Im Sebastian Salvo, classical painter, born in Santiago de Chile. Since childhood I have been influenced by the masterpieces of the great masters from the Renaissance and Baroque periods through the teachings of my Grandfather and his passion for classical culture. In 2010 I travelled with my grandfather through Europe, having the great privilege to look and study the great works from many of the painters that I admired since I was a child. That journey defined the direction of what I have pursued since then, to achieve the excellence, poetry and technique of the timeless masterpieces in painting.
On 2014 I had the chance to become a student and assistant of the norwegian master Odd Nerdrum and stay at his studio for 3 months. On 2018 I visited him again and stayed as pupil of him for three years, having the opportunity to develop my work and improve my technique on painting and storytelling.
During those years, I, together with other colleague painters, formed the Memorosa Group, group that engages in painting with the goal of painting stories, and pursue the eternal masterwork.
I have developed my professional career as a classical painter for more than fifteen years, having held exhibitions in Chile, Spain (European Museum of Modern Art) receiving the honorable mention award. United States of America (Salmagundi Club) and Norway (Stavern Kunst og Kultur, Kunsthuset Wendelboe and Galleri Annekset Stavern) I carried out university studies at the Finis Terrae University, Santiago de Chile, and I was the owner and director of an art gallery and bookstore (Galeria Abraxas) in Santiago de Chile.
I also had a painting workshop where I gave classes to painters and emerging artists. Today I teach students of different nationalities through online tutoring. I also maintain an active participation in the YouTube channel “Cave of Apelles”, generating cultural content.
